Stabbing victim’s family stops Montcalm Co. attacker

EVERGREEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A Montcalm County man police say repeatedly stabbed another man is facing felony charges.

It happened around 2:20 a.m. Monday at a home on Colby Road in Evergreen Township, east of Stanton.

Michigan State Police say a 19-year-old man from Gowen stabbed the 18-year-old several times before he restrained by the victim’s relatives, who held him until police arrived.

The victim was taken to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital where his condition is unclear.

The suspect remains in the Montcalm County jail. Authorities are withholding his name until he’s formally charged with assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and first-degree home invasion.
