KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Two men were arrested after police say they were caught trying to break into a Kalamazoo apartment.

A call came into police around 12:30 a.m. Thursday on reports of two people attempting to break into an apartment in the 1500 block of Kickapoo Court.

A Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officer, who was already in the area doing directed patrols to curb holiday thefts, quickly arrived on scene and saw one of the suspects leaving the apartment while the other stood watch.

The officer was able to take both men into custody without incident.

The investigation showed one of the men allegedly used burglary tools to break into the back slider door.

The suspects, identified as 26-year-old man and a 29-year-old man, were arrested on home invasion charges and possession of burglary tools.

Both have been lodged in the Kalamazoo County Jail. Their names have not been released.
