WYOMING, Mich. (WOOD) — After days of holiday shopping for loved ones, Tuesday is a day to give back.
The Tuesday following Black Friday and Cyber Monday has become known as Giving Tuesday. As part of the daylong campaign, two West Michigan organizations are teaming up to help homeless families find sustainable housing while assisting the unemployed in finding work.
Express Employment Professionals is working to raise money for Family Promise of Grand Rapids. For every job seeker that applies at Express this Tuesday, they will donate $25 to Family Promise of Grand Rapids.
Family Promise provides emergency shelter to families with children and supports families through their journey to ensure they never become homeless again. Family Promise of Grand Rapids currently provides emergency shelter to 27 families every night.
The funds donated Tuesday will go toward providing families with shelter, food, employment assistance and other necessities.
“We are so excited to partner with Family Promise for Giving Tuesday. Employment and housing are two of the most important cornerstones in someone’s life. Through this initiative we are excited to help in both of these areas for a variety of people,” stated Janis Petrini, owner of Express Employment Professionals of Grand Rapids in a news release.
Express Employment Professionals is currently looking for people to fill more than 200 openings. The areas they have openings include the light industrial, skilled trades, administrative and professional industries. To apply, candidates should visit Express Employment Professionals’ office at 1760 44th Street in Wyoming or call 616.281.0611.
