Help walk a child through their grief at Ele’s Place

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOOD) -Losing a loved one is always difficult, but for children it can be especially hard. Ele’s Place is a local non-profit that has been helping support grieving children and their families since 1991. Karen Ketterer joined eightwest to share more about this important program.

Ele’s Place provides weekly sessions that allow children to share their feelings with peers who have experienced the death of a family member or close friend. Music, art, storytelling, writing, and play are creative tools used to help children express their fears, anger, guilt, and sadness.

Trained Volunteers facilitate age-appropriate group discussions and activities. Volunteers are critical to our programming at Ele’s Place, and we would like the opportunity to share the need with you and the community. Ele’s Place volunteers come from all walks of life, and there is no previous training or education required to become a volunteer. We are looking for compassionate and dedicated volunteers who enjoy working with children and are looking to give back to our community.
