Trees for Troops ship out from West Michigan

Christmas trees gathered for troops in Georgia at Wahmhoff Farms Nursery in Van Buren County on Nov. 28, 2016.

GOBLES, Mich. (WOOD) — As many Americans prepare to put up their Christmas trees, now our troops will be able to do the same, thanks to a group of kind West Michigan donors.

Workers at Wahmhoff Farms in Gobles loaded the donated trees onto a FedEx trailer bound for Fort Benning, Georgia. The farm is taking part in the Christmas Spirit Foundation’s Trees for Troops program, which brings fresh Christmas trees to soldiers and their families at more than 65 military bases throughout the country.

“It’s always humbling. It’s extremely humbling,” said Staff Sgt. Pharr.

Several other farms will also be shipping out fresh trees this week as part of Trees for Troops, including one in Laingsburg, MI.
