Driver hits 2 young children, leaves scene in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — The search is on for the driver who hit a 3-year-old and 5-year-old in Kalamazoo and left the scene.

It happened around 6:11 p.m. Tuesday at Race Street and Egleston Avenue in Kalamazoo’s Edison Neighborhood.

Officers say a 4-year-old boy and 2-year-old girl were with a parent crossing Race Street when a vehicle heading east on Egleston Avenue hit them and drove off.

Both children were given immediate medical attention and transported by ambulance to Bronson Methodist Hospital. Tuesday night, the 4-year-old was listed in critical condition and the 2-year-old was listed as stable.

The suspect’s vehicle is described as an older style minivan that is dark-colored, possibly brown.
