Police: Boy, 14, critically injured after running in front of car

HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — A 14-year-old boy was critically injured after police say he ran out in front of a car in Holland.

The crash happened on Lincoln Avenue near Veterans Drive just before 10 p.m. Monday.

Officers say two teens who live in the area were crossing Lincoln Avenue after leaving Lincolnshire store when one of them ran out in front of a northbound car and was hit.

The 14-year-old boy was initially taken to Holland Hospital and then transported to Spectrum Butterworth in Grand Rapids with critical injuries, according to a release from the Holland Department of Public Safety.

The driver, a 19-year-old woman, was not hurt.

Officers say it was raining at the time of the crash and the area where it happened is dimly lit.
