Police: 1 killed, 2 injured in Ionia County crash

BERLIN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — Police say a woman was killed and two other people were injured in a two-vehicle crash in Ionia County Monday evening.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on M-66 near Peck Lake Road in Berlin Township.

Michigan State Police say a 2003 Pontiac Aztek driven by Elizabeth Vanderhoff, 39, of Ionia was heading northbound when it crossed the centerline and hit a southbound van driven by Harvey Hansen, 69, of Battle Creek.

Vanderhoff was pronounced dead on scene.

A passenger in Vanderhoff’s vehicle, Andrew Fox, was taken to Butterworth Hospital for his injuries.

Hansen was also injured in the crash and was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital.

Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash which remains under investigation.
