GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOOD) – There’s a very special guest coming to holland tomorrow, December 2nd. Dutch children may recognize him by his red cape and long white beard, and it’s a sign to put their shoes by the chimney or back door, it’s Sinterklaas, the benevolent St. Nicholas! In true Dutch tradition, Sinterklaas arrives each December on his white horse, surrounded by his mischievous Zwarte Piet helpers.
Rachel and Linda from the Holland Museum joined eightWest to talk about his visit.
The evening will begin at 6pm at the Holland Armory. Bring the whole family to listen to stories, make a craft, and play games. The Sinterklaas Procession begins at the Kerstmarkt at 7:00 pm and proceeds east on 8th Street to Central Avenue, south on Central Ave. to Centennial Park where there will be a tree lighting ceremony with Christmas carols immediately followed by cookies, hot cocoa, and photos with Sinterklaas at the Holland Museum.
