Holiday fun and a visit from Santa at Wolverine Worldwide Holiday Pops

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOOD) – The sounds of the season are helping us to get in a festive mood, and the Grand Rapids Symphony is kicking off their annual holiday pops concerts on Friday.

Grand Rapids Pops’ Wolverine Worldwide Holiday Pops will feature the sounds of the holiday season from the Symphony along with the Symphony Chorus, directed by Pearl Shangkuan; and the Grand Rapids Symphony Youth Chorus, directed by Sean Ivory. Principal Pops Conductor Bob Bernhardt leads all five performances of the holiday tradition.

This GR Pops tradition features beloved seasonal favorites such as Sleigh Ride, the Symphony Chorus and Youth Chorus, holiday sing-along, a visit from Santa, and Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus finale.

Special guests include the extraordinary bass-baritone Justin Hopkins as well as Grand Rapid’s own Embellish Handbell Ensemble directed by Stephanie Wiltse. This super-sized cast of musicians brings you seasonal classics such as “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” selections from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker,” and “Spirit of the Season” from the holiday film The Polar Express. Don’t miss out on a great, family-friendly way to kick off this upcoming holiday season with the Grand Rapids Symphony.
