HOLLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — A 14-year-old boy who was hit while running across a Holland street has died, police say.

Officers said Thursday that Raymond Lemus of Holland was at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital when he died from his injuries.

Lemus was with another teenager leaving Lincolnshire store when officers say he ran out in front of the car, which was northbound on Lincoln Avenue near Veterans Drive.

Investigators say the area was dimly lit and it was raining heavily when the crash happened just before 10 p.m. Monday.

Authorities said while the crash remains under investigation, but there is no indication that the 19-year-old driver was at fault.
