Holiday tradition, amazing performance: The Nutcracker

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich (WOOD) – Christmas time brings some amazing performances and fun traditions. Tonight, December 9th, is opening night for the Grand Rapids Ballet’s biggest show of the year, The Nutcracker! This show is a Christmas classic. The songs are the soundtrack of the holiday season, and the story of Clara, the Nutcracker, and evil Mouse King, is one we can’t get enough of.

There are many interesting fun facts about the Nutcracker that most people don’t know. Rachael stopped by rehearsal for a very cool behind the scenes tour. Check out the video above to learn unique tidbits, like the fact that 6 different dancers will play the role of Clara and lots of special effects are built right in the sets at DeVos Hall. The Nutcracker runs through December 18th.
