MLive botches Detroit Lions headline

The Lions don't actually play the Cowboys until Dec. 26

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The front page of several newspapers across the state had one glaring error Monday morning.

Everyone who watched the Detroit Lions game on Sunday knows they lost to the New York Giants, but that’s not what MLive reported.

“Lions roped by Dallas Cowboys” is what the headlines stated in bold Monday. The Grand Rapids Press, Muskegon Chronicle, Kalamazoo Gazette, and Jackson Citizen Patriot were among the newspapers who printed the error.

The Lions don’t actually play the Cowboys until Dec. 26. And Lions fans are certainly hoping the opposite happens.

MLive issued a correction in Tuesday’s papers and apologized for the error stating “we will adjust our work processes to prevent such mistakes in the future.”

After losing to the Giants 17-6 on Sunday, the Lions (9-5) still control their playoff future. They can lock up the NFC North title by winning out. They are a game ahead of the Packers, who beat the Bears 30-27 on Sunday.
