SB US-31 in Muskegon reopens after multi-vehicle crash

MUSKEGON, Mich. (WOOD) — Southbound US-31 at Apple Avenue, M-46, in Muskegon has reopened after a multi-vehicle crash

Police say shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday a vehicle merging onto southbound US-31 from Apple Avenue lost control and struck a semi-truck pulling a double trailer. The semi then hit the Apple Avenue overpass. A third vehicle was also struck by the semi.

Injuries were reported, and the semi driver is still being evaluated by medical staff, according to a Muskegon Police Department news release.

The semi was carrying a load of gravel which spilled across US-31.

Michigan Department of Transportation inspectors have determined there was no damage to the Apple Avenue overpass.
