Land of the Midnight Sun

Here’s some screen grabs from FAA cameras in Alaska this evening.  Above is Merrill Pass and the Shamrock Glacier, which is one of 1,740 glaciers in the vast area of Lake Clark National Park.   This picture shows a rare clear day at a place called Dutch Haystack.  This is in the Aleutian Islands.  There is still snow on the higher mountains.  This is a cloudy, foggy, windy, damp place.  Much of the island chain receives precipitation on 200-250 days a year.
