White Christmas

The map above shows the odds of a White Christmas.  It’s over 90% for the Western U.P., about 75% for NW Lower Michigan, 55% for Grand Rapids and around 35-40% for Detroit and Chicago.   The law of averages says we get a White Christmas (defined as 1″ or more of snow on the ground at sunrise on Christmas morning) this year.  We’ve had a Green Christmas 4 of the last 5 years (including last year).  The warmest Christmas ever in G.R. was in 1982 when the temperature soared to 65 degrees.  I picked a dandelion in my front yard…
