Longest Tornado in Wisconsin History

The Chetek Tornado that moved across four counties in Northwest Wisconsin on the evening of May 17 has been officially certified as the longest continuous-track tornado in Wisconsin history (since 1950).  The tornado had a continuous damage path of 83 miles.   This is damage near Conrath, Wisconsin, where the twister was rated EF3 with winds of 145 mph.  A home here was completely destroyed down to the foundation.  The tornado resulted in one fatality and 25 injuries.  The tornado had a forward speed of nearly 60 mph and was on the ground at least from 5:42 pm to 7:06…
