Gale Warnings are in effect for Lake Michigan until midnight for waves of 6-10 feet.  Here’s current conditions, where you can follow the winds across the state.    We’ll have an overall dry pattern through the weekend., maybe some flurries Thurs. PM/night. There could be as much as an inch in an isolated spot along and south of I-94 Thurs. aftn.  However, the best chc. of light snow is south in Indiana. There’s a decent chance of some accumulating snow next Monday…maybe 1-2″ – not a big storm, but back to winter.  The heavier snow from that system may also be toward Indiana.  Cold air pours in later this week with temps. only in the 20s on Friday and Saturday.  Overnight European model shows very cold air from the Great Lakes into New England.

Here’s a look at peak wind gusts from Tuesday.  There was one “severe weather” report from Wisconsin on Tues: “SHINGLES BLEW OFF 2 HOUSES FROM A CONVECTIVE SHOWER.” That was at Waupan WI.

Also:  The Oak Grove, Missouri tornado has been rated EF3 with peak winds of 152 mph.  Here’s pictures of the damage. There were 12 injuries with that tornado.  Three others were injured by a second tornado in Wentzville MO.  View of lightning from the new GOES-16 satellite.

The total severe weather summary for Monday shows there were 692 severe reports, including 41 tornadoes (that number will probably be reduced because of multiple reports of the same tornado), 500 severe wind reports and 151 reports of severe hail.

By contrast, there were only 14 reports of severe weather today (no tornaodes), most of them in Mississippi.

There’s a Marginal Risk Area for this PM from SE Kansas across S. Missouri into N Arkansas.

Unseasonably cold air across Canada settles over the NE U.S. this weekend.   Coldest Iditarod start on record — since 1973 — at -19°F. Low for day was -38°F!
