Chc. Snow Showers/Flurries

Central Great Lakes sector loop We have a chance of snow showers or flurries today. It’ll be another cold day – the 6th day in a row when most areas stay below freezing.

The cold air has increased the ice on the Great Lakes a bit. As of yesterday, we were back up to 16.1% ice cover on Lake Michigan and 19.6% for the Great Lakes as a whole.

Here’s some snowfall totals from the other side of Lake Michigan, where the lake-effect snow was heavy.  Two locations near Kenosha WI had 23″ and 21.5″ of snow.  Milwaukee had almost a foot of snow…Chicago O’Hare had 7.7″ and Hammond, Indiana had an even foot of snow.  Time-lapse of the lake-effect snow.

Also:  Night pic. of waterspout illuminated by lightning off Palm Beach FL.  Endwell, NY was one of the snowiest spots in the Northeast from the of 2017, measuring 33.5 inches of snow.  2nd biggest March snowstorm ever at Hartford CT.
