A Little Sunshine!

The top pic. is from the S. Haven Lighthouse (from NOAA Coastwatch).  Note the ducks swimming in the open water to the right of the breakwater.  Hope they find something to eat.  Nice to see a little sunshine.  The first 11 days of February had only 9% of possible sunshine in G.R.

This pic. this morning from Alpena shows where the ice fishermen were trudging around in the snow-covered river yesterday.  Lots of ice as you look out on Thunder Bay.

This was the Muskegon Channel this AM – on time lapse, you could watch the ice moving out of the channel.  Quite a variety of low temps. this AM.  The low at the Muskegon Beach here was 18.1, while at the airport, just 3 miles away, the low was +5.  Alma and Hesperia dipped to a chilly -5 and Leota in Clare Co. bottomed out at -13 amd Baldwin dipped to -9.  At the South Haven Lighthouse, a wind off the water kept the low to relatively mild 24.4…so that was a 37.4 deg. difference between Clare and the S. Haven Lighthouse.
